Real Madrid beat Deportivo Alaves 2-0 on Friday night thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio and secured their 8th straight win to go another step closer towards the LaLiga title. After the game, Raphael Varane and Lucas Vázquez spoke to reporters in the mixed zone and gave their verdict on the victory.
VARANE:
“We’re pleased with the good run we’re enjoying. We’re going to carry on working hard with our minds fixed firmly on our objective. We’ve got three finals to come and we’ll give it our all to win LaLiga. It was important to continue the winning streak and keeping a clean sheet gives us real confidence. It’s a team effort. We’ve got lots of games to play and we need the whole team. Everyone is focused and we know exactly what we have to do. We’re going to carry on doing what we’re doing, which is very positive, and we’ll give it everything we’ve got in the three remaining games.
“We have a good, strong group, full of very talented players. As the coach always says, we’re going to need the full team. The players have the trust of the coach and we work together in order to form a solid unit. Today wasn’t our greatest performance but we keep moving forward.”
LUCAS:
“We head home with the feeling that it was a job well done. This game was an important one for us to keep ourselves in the race for the title and we go away feeling happy. I’m pleased to have played and helped the team. We talked to each other right throughout the game and that made things easier. Keeping another clean sheet is a great feeling. The whole team shows we’re defending and attacking together. The work put in by the unit is what sees the three points go our way. We’re hungry and excited to pick up another three wins.”
