Federico Valverde is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the Copa America but has been keeping an eye on Madrid’s summer transfer activity.
“I’ve had little time to see the signings because I’m at the Copa America,” he told MARCA. “But I did see the presentations. I’m happy with the new project and hope the reinforcements that come in do well.
Valverde is happy with his situation and has done nothing but impress since being handed more opportunities and the midfielder is confident he has a place in Zidane’s squad despite the club being linked with Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen.
“I was also excited about the past but I’m happy with what’s coming. At the moment, I’m in [Zidane’s plans]. As long as they don’t tell me otherwise.” he said.
The French coach is shaping up his squad for the upcoming season and has key decisions to make regarding who stays, but at this time it is unlikely that Valverde won’t be around the squad for the 2019/20 campaign.
