Takefusa Kubo is arguably Real Madrid’s brightest talisman. The 19-year old has had a terrific season on loan at RCD Mallorca, despite their relegation.

The club are now looking for a new project for the Japanese star, and ahead of a transfer being confirmed, Kubo sat down with France Football for an exclusive interview to answer a range of questions:

On his time at RCD Mallorca:
“Mallorca has made me grow as a player and also as a person. I leave very good friends here with whom I have shared good & bad moments. I have always noticed the affection of the people on the island. It has been an unforgettable season in many ways.”

On playing in La Liga:
“I’m really enjoying playing in La Liga. I am very happy to be able to play here. It’s the best league in the world and I enjoy every game here. It shows, right?”

On his ambitions at Real Madrid:
“My dream has always been to be one of the best players and I won’t stop working to achieve it. I have always said that my goal was to play for Real Madrid. That’s why I work hard and give my best, even without knowing what will happen.”

On his strengths and his game:
“I like to receive the ball between the lines or in the middle, where there are more players, then face them and try to be decisive. My dribbling technique is everything I have learned playing football so far. I have many years ahead and have a lot of room to improve myself. When I was little, I played a lot of football, from eight in the morning until dusk. I didn’t get tired. It’s my passion and football has been a big part of my life since I was a child. I play football with the sole intention of improving. But on the pitch I am never shy. A player must express himself on the field. Being shy on the field doesn’t make you a better player or better than other players on the pitch. You talk on the field with your game and that’s the way to improve yourself, and that’s what I’m doing.”
