Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos spoke with the reporters after Madrid’s 3-1 win over Celta at the Balaidos on Matchday 1 of La Liga. Ramos was pleased with the team’s performance as Real Madrid grabbed all 3 points thanks to goals from Benzema, Kroos and Vazquez. Ramos started by saying,
“It’s a good way to start the competition. We live on the margins of speculation. We’ve done a good physical preparation. Started from scratch with a lot of energy & enthusiasm to aspire to win all 3 competitions. We’re going to do our best to achieve success.”
The Real Madrid captain was also asked about Luka Modric’s dismissal as the Croatian saw a direct red card for a tackle on the former Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez. The tackle was deemed as violent after VAR had intervened on the 56th minute of the game. The Spanish captain’s words on the matter:
“VAR on Modric? Anything to protect football is good. Today may have hurt our decision. I don’t think Modric had any intent to hurt but maybe it looked ugly. I’d have to watch it again. We don’t look at anyone. We focus on us. It’s the first game and there’s a lot left.”
Real Madrid will face Real Valladolid next weekend at the Bernabeu in their first home game of the season.
