Reinier Jesus was officially presented as a new Real Madrid player on Tuesday, 18 February, at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Brazilian put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the club for the next six seasons, in the stadium’s meeting room, accompanied by Florentino Pérez.

The event continued at the Bernabéu’s VIP box with the president welcoming his newest recruit with a speech:

“Dear Reinier, you are now a Real Madrid player, the team you always chose to play in the video games, the one that brought you the biggest illusions and the one that was part of your dreams.
“Here we are with some of the best players in the world, players who have won everything, some of them even with 4 European Cups won in recent years in what is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary periods in our almost 118 years of history. And that is why it is not easy to find that indisputable talent that can be part of the culture of Real Madrid. Our players are already legends and they still have the hunger to keep winning, which is indispensable for wearing our jersey every day.

“Congratulations because today many of your footballing hopes are beginning to come true. Today you wear a jersey for the first time that is ingrained with the values that have marked our history and that have to do with hard work, demands, self-improvement, humility, comradeship and always with respect for the opponent. This is the jersey you have dreamed of so much. With it, our fans will help you overcome all the adversities.” said Florentino.

The 18-year-old gave a short speech thanking the president and his family, and how happy he is to have joined the club of his childhood:

“Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a very happy day for me, the day I fulfil a childhood dream. Many thanks to the president, the directors, and my family, who were always with me and without them it would not be possible to get here. I want to be part of the history of this club. Hala Madrid!”

From there, the Brazilian headed to the pitch at the Bernabéu for the first time as a Real Madrid player, posing for photos and showing off his keep-up skills before kissing the badge and thanking the fans by kicking balls in the stands.
