Real Madrid are set to take on Elche in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey following the draw held at the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) headquarters today. The clash will be played on either January 19th or 20th at the Estadio Martínez Valero, in a one-match knock-out game. The exact date and kick-off time will be confirmed in due course.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side reached this stage of the competition thanks to Wednesday’s 1-3 win over Alcoyano, in a tight and competitive Round of 32 tie.

Following the conclusion of the draw, the boss shared his thoughts on the opponent:

“We can’t take it easy because everyone knows the Copa del Rey is important for every team. Everyone is excited about this competition. It’s a game we’ll have to prepare for properly and it’s tougher because we’re away from home, I don’t believe there’s any such thing as a good or bad draw. It’s the draw and we have to prepare well because the Copa del Rey is a crucial competition for everyone.”
