Real Madrid drew the derby 0-0 against Atletico at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday night. Find out what the players had to say after the game:
RAMOS
“It was an extremely physical game. We knew the Wanda is one of the toughest places to come all season and our aim of taking all three points wasn’t to be. We’ve kept a clean sheet and created chances. Atleti are a very solid team, we had Benzema’s effort, but the point is a bit underwhelming. We’re still unbeaten though and have to keep it up.
“It’s what we’ve been working on, the solidity and organisation at the back is very important. Any point we can add to our tally is crucial, but it feels like we should have had more after doing such a great job. Thankfully, the team is in very good shape and we must keep it going.”
NACHO
We wanted to take the three points like every time. We put in a very complete performance against an extremely powerful side, we had the best chances of the game, but picking up points is important at these kinds of grounds. At the end of LaLiga this will be a great point.
“We’ve had three very good games, keeping clean sheets, putting on good displays and the team looks much tighter defending as a unit. When the team defend and attack together we perform better. If we can keep clean sheets, it’s unusual for us not to get the winning goal. It’s important for our confidence and to keep growing as a team. We’ve got goals in us so we’re not worried.
“Now the Champions League is back, it’s a special competition. We’ve had a blip and we’re keen to pick up a win at home in front of our fans. There are two huge games this week and we’re confident we can do a good job.”
COURTOIS
“We could have won today but a draw isn’t a bad result here. You’re up against a rival who knows how to defend and plays well on the counter. At the break we changed things around to be a bit more attacking. We had a good chance with Benzema’s header which Oblak did well to keep out. They had Trippier’s cross that I saved well because Koke was waiting to turn it in. We are Real Madrid, we always want to win matches. Nobody is satisfied with the 0-0, but we didn’t want to go crazy and leave ourselves open to the counterattack.
“We defend with 11 and attack with 11, that’s football. If we are well set up, we are a great team. We pressed well after we lost the ball, like against Sevilla and Osasuna. Sometimes it’s easy to criticise. I know what I’ve done well and what I can do better.
“Hazard has to find his rhythm. He went 4 or 5 weeks without playing and without training much. He’s come in during a spell of a lot of matches and will gradually improve. He will continue to grow as the team is doing.”
