Real Madrid’s Japanese starlet Takefusa Kubo has been impressing the coaching staff and the senior players during the first week of pre-season training in Montreal. The 18-year-old spoke to Realmadrid TV after training, discussing his feelings and how this unique experience is helping him to improve.

“I’m learning a great deal as a player and person, both on and off the pitch. I’m having a great time.

“What really strikes me is the quality of all of the players. My teammates and the coaches are very pleasant and I’ve been able to adapt really well. I’ve got to make the most of this opportunity but you’ve also got to enjoy it because it’s not everyone that gets such a chance. I’m really proud to be at the best club in the world.” he said.

Kubo was signed on a five-year deal from FC Tokyo this summer and he’ll spend the 2019/20 season at Real Madrid Castilla, under the orders of club legend Raúl González, although he could find himself in the first-team squad much sooner than expected after his impressive showing on tour.

He may have the chance to impress when the Whites take on Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup on Sunday.
