Since landing in Canada last week, Zinedine Zidane has been putting his players through their paces in training at the Montreal Impact’s facilities, alongside fitness coach Gregory Dupont, but Kroos believes the intensity of the sessions will benefit the Whites during the upcoming campaign.

“We play to challenge on all fronts, just as we always do. The important thing in the first few games is to get up to speed and into the groove. I’m sure that we’ll be a bit tired because we’re training really hard. I’m still tired from today’s session,” Kroos said in an interview with Realmadrid TV.

The German midfielder is embarking on his sixth campaign at the club, having joined from Bayern in the summer of 2014, five years later, Kroos recalls the memories of his unveiling and the time he spent in the Spanish capital.

“It was a really special day in my life. It’s also special to be at the best club in the world and here’s hoping that there are many more years to come. These years have flown by and, overall, the five years have been really successful, with three Champions League triumphs.

“I’ve really come on as a player. I arrived aged 24 from another country and I think that I’ve done well here. The successes and appearances are all very positive and I’m really happy.” concluded the midfielder.
