Real Madrid’s injury woes go on. James Rodriguez became the latest player to have suffered an injury. The 28-year-old made his first appearance for the Whites after a two-year loan spell away from the club as his side drew 1-1 against Valladolid on Saturday night, but was forced to be taken off due to muscular problems before the hour mark.
The club has not reported the extent of the injury, but the Colombian midfielder is not expected to be out for too long. He’ll miss Sunday’s trip to Villarreal and will likely be out of his country’s friendly games against Brazil and Venezuela, returning to action after the international break, when Zinedine Zidane’s men take on Levante.
Real Madrid confirmed the injury in an official statement on the club’s website:
“After the tests carried out today on our player James Rodríguez by the Real Madrid Medical Services he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the right soleus. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
It’s the ninth injury suffered by Real Madrid players since the start of pre-season, and this injury sees the list of players unavailable for selection grow to five, as James Rodriguez now joins Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard, Brahim and Rodrygo Goes in the treatment room.
