Read what James Rodriguez, Casemiro and Thibaut Courtois had to say after the 3-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night:

“Today was not a good day but we have to learn from this. I think, like everyone at work, sometimes you have good days, sometimes bad. It’s a poor result but we don’t have to make it into a drama. This is just starting and there’s a long way to go in the Champions League. We have a tough LaLiga game in 4 days and we have to focus on what’s to come. I’m happy to be back playing and I hope it’s a good season. Playing for Real Madrid is a responsibility and also tremendously exciting. I can feel the fans’ warmth when I’m out there and that fills me with both happiness and pride. I’d like to tell madridismo not to worry and I hope this doesn’t happen again.

“PSG showed more intensity than we did today but that’s always the case when you have an off day. PSG played a great match. You have to acknowledge that, they’re excellent players and put in a great performance today. At Real Madrid, whether you win or lose you have to think about the next game and in 4 days’ time we’ve got another one and we have to give it our best.

“I have no problem with the coach. We’ve always had a great relationship and I’d say even more so now.”

“We didn’t play well. They controlled the match. We know it’s difficult to play here because they’re a very strong side. But there’s no excuse, we haven’t played well but there is time to improve on a lot of things. We have to keep working hard because we still have a lot of games ahead. We had chances. We scored two goals that were disallowed, but I think there are no excuses now. We didn’t play well and it’s a delicate moment to speak. We’re working hard and we have time to put things right.

“We always try and give it our all, we try and be aggressive but when you lose 3-0 everything is exacerbated. We know you’re unlikely to win here unless you put in a near-perfect performance. They played better than us and now we have to keep working hard because there’s still a lot of time to improve.”

“You have to analyse the game calmly and see what needs to be done to improve as a team so that this doesn’t happen again. In the first half they started more aggressively, and we made it a little complicated and suffered as a result. When you play against a big team, you have to start strongly, but we didn’t play with the same intensity as them, they got in front at the beginning and it was difficult for us to create chances.

“The coach made it clear that we don’t have to think about the injuries because they are a team that has quality and knows how to play good football. You have to be prepared for each player you come up against.

“We defend with 11 players and attack with 11. Everyone has to do their part to defend and defend with 11. As a goalkeeper I will always be frustrated when they score a goal, but we have to look at it, analyse it and improve as a team.”
