After fulfilling his dream to sign for Real Madrid, Eden Hazard has failed to impress during his first pre-season performances for Los Blancos. One year after Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus, the 28-year old Hazard has to step into the big footsteps left by the Portugese. But while having problems linking up with his new teammates, the Belgian has an even bigger problem to deal with.
As MARCA reported, the Belgian is showing glimpses of his quality, but isn’t completing moves. Madrid’s new Galactico has much more potential to inspire Real Madrid’s attack. There is no doubt that he is an extraordinary player who is currently being inhibited by the team’s overall poor performances. Hazard was bright against Bayern but failed to impress against Arsenal or Atletico at the International Champions Cup. No one doubts his ability or the fact that he’s going to be one of Los Blancos’ best players this season, but his biggest problem is his current fitness. According to unknown reports, the Belgian arrived with seven kilograms over his standard weight, which consulted in a lack of pace and acceleration.
After an unlucky performance against this years Champions League runner-up Tottenham Hotspur, Hazard managed to show some inspiring moments against Fenerbahçe at the Audi Cup 2019, leaving the Madridistas hopeful for his next big step. However, Real Madrid’s new star needs more playing time while currently looking sluggish and corpulent. Having two pre-season fixtures left to play until facing Celta Vigo on August 18, the whole squad has to improve and get to their highest level as soon as possible with Eden Hazard especially to work on his overall fitness in order to meet the expectations set on him.
