Real Madrid have published the 21-man travelling squad picked by Carlo Ancelotti for the Copa del Rey Round of 32 tie against CD Alcoyano, which will take place at the El Collao Stadium on Wednesday night, at 21:30 CET.

Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Ferland Mendy, Thibaut Courtois and Vinicius Jr are all rested for this game, giving them some deserved time to recover their fitness from the recent COVID outbreak and some discomforts.

Dani Carvajal and Gareth Bale are not yet fit enough to participate. Luka Jovic is currently the only player who is COVID-19 positive.

Toni Fuidias, Diego Piñeiro, Rafa Marín and Peter Federico are the players called up from the youth teams.

FULL SQUAD:

GOALKEEPERS: Andriy Lunin, Toni Fuidias, Diego Piñeiro.

DEFENDERS: Éder Militão, David Alaba, Jesús Vallejo, Nacho Fernandez, Marcelo, Rafa Marín.

MIDFIELDERS: Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Fede Valverde, Lucas Vázquez, Dani Ceballos, Isco, Eduardo Camavinga.

FORWARDS: Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, Rodrygo Goes, Mariano, Peter Federico.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Ancelotti confirmed that some players suffered blows against Getafe, and confirmed that he wants to give Lunin minutes.

“There will be some changes because there are players who’ve been struggling after the Getafe game, such as Benzema, Mendy and Modrić. I also want to give Lunin minutes and that’s why Courtois won’t be there either.”

It could also prove to be a great opportunity for Dani Ceballos, who returned from his loan spell at Arsenal, but hasn’t had the chance to play so far due to a long-term injury.

“He’s [Ceballos] available and could get the chance. I like him as a player and his character on the pitch. He’s going to be important for us in the second half of the season because he has the quality of a Real Madrid player.”
