Real Madrid stumbled again in the Champions League as they had to come from 0-2 down to draw 2-2 against Club Brugge at the Santiago Bernabéu. In the aftermath of the clash, Casemiro, Vinicius Jr. and Luka Modric spoke to reporters in the mixed zone.
“That wasn’t the result we wanted and that we were looking for. There’s no such thing as an easy game. They had two chances in the first half and scored twice. You’ve got to show the opposition respect. Amongst the negativity, this draw could still give us a lot of hope in the Champions League. When you’re 2-0 down you become really rushed in your play and end up making mistakes. I didn’t sense that the fans were angry, they really got behind us in the second half and right up until the final whistle. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the fans get behind us like they did tonight.”
“This cannot happen again. We have the confidence to win the remaining games and make it out of the group. Zidane told us at the break to focus so that the same thing didn’t happen again. We need to focus in the next game and make sure history doesn’t repeat itself. They scored twice in the first half. That hunger for the win in the second half is a good sign for us.”
“Our first-half performance wasn’t good, but we responded in the second half and pressed them well. We got the two goals and we have to focus on the positives. We showed some character in the second half and there’s still a long way to go in the group stage.”
