Real Madrid right-back and Spanish international Dani Carvajal recently gave an interview for Omnisport. He opened up on Zidane’s recent criticism as Real Madrid haven’t had the best pre-season so far. Carvajal reassured, the Real Madrid players are fully in support of the French manager who had a very successful time during his first spell at the hot seat of the Bernabeu. Carvajal said, “Zidane is very important, as he was as a player and as he was during his first spell as coach“. He added, “I hope he will be [important] again in his second spell”. Carvajal specifically pointed out that Zidane is much more experienced this time by saying, “The coach is more prepared than ever. He has experience that he didn’t have before. He has the respect and confidence of all of us and that’s the first step in going far.”

Carvajal was not too worried about Madrid’s pre-season form and was focused on their first La Liga game instead. He affirmed, The coach is testing players, [different] systems and a little bit of everything. The goal is to arrive with the best chance of victory on the 17th [at Balaidos against Celta Vigo]. The defender also expressed his excitement for the new season by saying, “Every season is the most exciting; you have to look at it that way. If you want to mark an era, you have to reset every summer.”
