It’s now a decade since the legendary Raúl González Blanco played his final game for Real Madrid and of course he did it with one final goal. His 323rd for Los Blancos.
It was the 34th LaLiga matchday, a difficult away game at the La Romareda in Zaragoza. Raúl, who started the game on the bench, came on after just 15 minutes due to an injury for Rafael van der Vaart. In the 50th minute Raúl scored the first goal of the game after an assist from Cristiano Ronaldo. It wasn’t only his last goal for Real Madrid, it was also his last touch. Immediately after scoring, the Spaniard felt some discomfort and had to get substituted. In the end it was more than a little discomfort and Raúl’s season and legendary Real Madrid career was over. Real Madrid won the game in Zaragoza, but finished the season second in LaLiga.
